[Reporter Wu Junfeng / Ren De] Transformation of industrial ruins! The 2016 Summer Art Season at Ten Drum Ciatou Creative Village has kicked off. The inaugural exhibition features an image installation composed of compositions of vintage candy wrapper paper. The abandoned drying room instantly becomes a space of vibrant colors, surprising and leading visitors to reminisce about their childhood.

Summer Art Season's inaugural exhibition created by Chun-Yi CHANG
The theme of the first exhibition is "Sugar Coating." Ten Drum invited Taiwanese artist Chun-Yi CHANG, who resides in France, to be an artist-in-residence for the project. With a focus on wrapping elements of sweet childhood memories, Chun-Yi CHANG uses color transformation techniques to present a splendid visual effect, which was revealed yesterday.

Chun-Yi CHANG stated that the patterns on the packaging paper, including love candies, milk candies, soda candies, etc., were among the favorite sweets of children in the early days. The sequential image process symbolizes the activation of the key to fantasy. Through artistic creation, she hopes to bring the power of revitalization and rebirth to this industrial ruin.

The patterns on vintage candy wrappers continuously evolve in lines and colors. Reflected in the mirror, they undergo continuous deconstruction, folding, transformation, and generation, creating a visually contrasting and captivating experience.

The on-site installation of the image series is located in the sugar box formerly used for drying. By incorporating mirror materials, the dim space gains a completely new color combination, demonstrating great creativity. Due to the successful transformation, Ten Drum plans to develop the area into a regular special exhibition area with the concept of a museum.
